[NEWS] OFFICIAL: INEC REGISTERS OVER 10 MILLION NEW VOTERS

THE INDEPENDENT NATIONAL ELECTORAL COMMISSION (INEC), SAYS OVER TEN MILLION NAMES HAVE BEEN ADDED TO NIGERIA’S VOTERS REGISTER IN THE COURSE OF THE CONTINUOUS VOTER REGISTRATION EXERCISE BEING UNDERTAKEN BY THE COMMISSION, WHICH IS SCHEDULED TO END NEXT MONTH.

THIS WAS REVEALED BY THE INEC CHAIRMAN, MAHMOOD YAKUBU, AT A RETREAT OF STATE HOUSE JOURNALISTS WITH THE THEME ‘COVERING ELECTIONEERING CAMPAIGN’ IN LAGOS STATE, AT THE WEEKEND.

YAKUBU, WHO WAS REPRESENTED BY THE RESIDENT ELECTORAL COMMISSIONER OF INEC IN LAGOS, SAMUEL OLUMEKUN, HOWEVER, SAYS THE COMMISSION STILL HAS A LARGE NUMBER OF UNCOLLECTED PERMANENT VOTERS CARDS IN THEIR VARIOUS OFFICES.
